Job summary

Surry Community College seeks an Information Technology Instructor to deliver student-centered instruction and develop high-quality courses preparing students for networking and cybersecurity fields. The role supports diverse learners in a campus setting (Dobson) with in-person, online, or hybrid delivery.

The instructor will design courses, use active learning, incorporate AI tools, provide advising, and participate in program development.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in IT/CS or related field required.
• CCNA certification to teach Cisco Networking Academy curricula.
• Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
• Ability to design inclusive, student-centered learning experiences.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 18 contact hours per fall and spring term.
• Teach in-person, online, or hybrid courses professionally.
• Post and maintain required office hours each semester.
• Create syllabi meeting required standards and program outcomes.
• Develop, administer, and assess meaningful assignments and activities.
• Provide student advising and enable success through support services.
• Integrate AI tools appropriately into curriculum and pedagogy.
• Participate in governance, assessment, and program development.
