Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools Edgewood Elementary in Vancouver, Washington seeks a Special Program Paraeducator 2 for the Integrated Social Emotional Program (ISEP). This one-on-one position supports individual students for 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year, starting immediately.

The role emphasizes direct student assistance, behavior support, and collaboration with certificated staff to implement IEP goals and maintain data records.

Qualifications

• Documentation verifying a high school diploma or GED AND
• Official transcripts showing an Associate’s Degree OR 60 semester credits / 90 quarter credits OR ETS ParaPro Assessment result of 461+
• One year of related experience working with children in an educational setting preferred
• Experience as part of an educational team preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills with diverse populations
• Ability to problem-solve, analyze, and resolve conflicts in a classroom setting
• Experience working with children with moderate to severe disabilities preferred

Responsibilities

• Work as a team member to assist the teacher in implementing and evaluating goals on individual student IEPs
• Manage behavior and assist students during class activities, providing instructional support
• De-escalate students during emotional/behavioral crises and carry out behavior plans
• Assist with data entry, record keeping, and preparation of teaching materials
• Observe students on arrival, in the cafeteria, and during community activities and report observations
