Mission Pet Health in Birmingham, AL is seeking a senior accounting leader to own the close process, ensure U.S. GAAP compliance, and drive SOX readiness. You will partner with IT, FP&A, and Operations to optimize Workday, automate reporting, and mentor staff as the company scales toward a potential IPO.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting.
• CPA license and deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Experience leading or supervising a team and building high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close calendar with continuous improvement.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analyses for completeness.
• Lead monthly financial statements and reporting packages for leadership.
• Serve as subject matter expert on U.S. GAAP; research complex transactions.
• Develop and communicate accounting policies; maintain internal controls.
• Lead SOX readiness and coordinate external audit activities.
