Job summary

Safeway is seeking a Receiver / Inventory Control Clerk to oversee all Direct Store Delivery (DSD) operations, ensuring accurate receipt, inventory control, and proper stocking. The role involves daily store walks to scan DSD items, identify shortages or surpluses, and work with order writers, night crew, merchandisers, and the File Maintenance Clerk.

Expect collaboration with the Store Director to uphold stock integrity and promotions.

Qualifications

• Experience receiving, tracking, and reconciling inventory in a retail or grocery setting.
• Familiarity with store portals or inventory systems and basic computer skills.
• Ability to monitor damaged, expired, or salvageable merchandise and process returns for credit.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Direct Store Delivery (DSD) inventory and ensure accurate receipt and stocking.
• Walk the store to scan items, identify out-of-stock or overstock conditions, and communicate with teams.
• Support inventory accuracy and promotional execution in coordination with store leadership.
• Maintain backroom organization, security, and cleanliness; assist with donations and stock management.
