Job summary

Safeway is seeking an Inventory Control Clerk to receive deliveries, verify invoices, and ensure accurate costs via the electronic receiving system. You will log shipments, break down loads, and move goods to appropriate areas while maintaining security and stock integrity.

The role requires strong attention to detail, math aptitude, and the ability to work early mornings and weekends. You will collaborate with store teams and vendors to support efficient operations and shrink control.

Qualifications

• Friendly, courteous, tactful with customers, co-workers and vendors.
• Good interpersonal, organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to be a team player and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to lift and move up to 80 lbs. and operate related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Receive deliveries and log into the computer; verify costs against invoices.
• Break down loads from DSD suppliers and move goods to storage, freezer, or sales floor.
• Reconcile invoices, balance receiving data, and forward to the office for payment.
• Communicate with DSD Coordinator via email; review vendor invoices daily.
• Prevent shrink, damage and spoilage; price or discard damaged goods as needed.
• Maintain security, sanitation and organization of receiving, storage and loading dock areas.
