Job summary

Safeway is hiring a Receiver / Inventory Control Clerk (ICC) to oversee Direct Store Delivery (DSD) operations, ensuring accurate receiving, stocking and inventory control in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will walk the store daily to scan DSD items, spot out-of-stock or overstock situations, and collaborate with store leadership, night crew and merchandisers to keep backrooms organized and ready for promotions.

Qualifications

• Experience with receiving, tracking, and reconciling inventory in a retail or grocery environment.
• Basic computer skills including email and Excel; familiarity with store inventory systems.
• Ability to monitor damaged, expired, or salvageable merchandise and process returns for credit.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Direct Store Delivery (DSD) operations and ensure merchandise is received and stocked.
• Walk the store daily to scan DSD items and identify out-of-stock or overstock conditions.
• Collaborate with order writers, night crew, merchandisers, and the File Maintenance Clerk.
• Communicate regularly with the Store Director to support inventory accuracy and promotions.
• Monitor donations and manage grocery and non-perishable inventories; maintain a secure backroom.
