Job summary

The University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) is seeking a Scheduler for Invasive Services to actively coordinate the department schedule for maximum efficiency and to provide physicians with convenient access to time slots.

The role requires strong communication, basic computer skills, ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
• Basic computer literacy and keyboarding skills required.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and works well under pressure.
• Ability to work in a fast pace environment
• Ability to use judgment in problem solving.
• Basic knowledge of services, procedures and equipment.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
• Familiar with physical anatomy and anatomical body parts preferred.
• Knowledge of clinical procedures, patient medical records and clinical documentation preferred.
• Knowledge of human anatomy, procedure length and average case length for each physician to provide the best fit for all cases in the elective schedule.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate department schedule for invasive services to maximize efficiency.
• Provide schedule access to physicians for convenience and time preferences.
• Call physicians the day before cases to verify sequence.
• Complete charges for anesthesia.
• Audit records for nursing data accuracy.
• Assist with development of processes for conversion to computer systems.
