Job summary

Toyota of Wallingford is seeking an Internet Sales Assistant to join our Sales department’s Business Development Center. You’ll be the first point of contact for online or phone inquiries about our vehicles, aiming to schedule showroom or virtual appointments and drive dealership visits.

The role offers an hourly base rate with a monthly bonus tied to successful appointments and closed sales, requiring strong customer service, CRM skills, and the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• 1 year in a BDC or automotive internet sales/customer contact role.
• Strong customer service skills for phone, email and text.
• Proven ability to persuade customers to schedule and keep sales appointments.
• Basic to intermediate vehicle knowledge and terminology.
• Toyota product knowledge preferred or willingness to learn quickly.
• Prior sales experience, preferably in automotive or retail.
• Clear, professional communication in English.
• Comfort using CRM systems and basic computer applications for data entry and scheduling.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple leads and follow-ups.

Responsibilities

• Handle inbound internet and phone leads promptly and professionally.
• Persuade prospective customers to schedule showroom or virtual appointments.
• Use vehicle knowledge to present features, benefits, and options clearly.
• Qualify leads and document customer needs, timelines, and interests in the CRM.
• Make outbound calls, emails, and texts to follow up with leads and customers.
• Coordinate with BDC and sales teams for seamless appointment-to-sale handoff.
• Maintain organized appointment schedules and achieve contact goals.
• Track customer interactions and outcomes in the CRM with accuracy.
• Support a positive team environment within the BDC and dealership.
