Job summary

Albany Law School invites applications for an organized and service-minded Access Services Specialist to support interlibrary loan and circulation services in its Schaffer Law Library. You will help library patrons access materials, oversee desk shifts, and coordinate student assistants.

The role emphasizes strong attention to detail, a welcoming customer-service approach, and passion for supporting a campus community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree with extensive library experience.
• Experience providing interlibrary loan services preferred.
• Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and complete detailed work accurately.
• Ability to use automated library systems and Microsoft Office, learn legal information resources and shelving systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate interlibrary loan borrowing and lending requests using Tipasa.
• Oversee the circulation desk during assigned shifts, maintain patron records, and issue borrowing credentials.
• Assist with hiring, training, and supervising work-study student assistants and submit their timesheets.
• Use Folio to prepare accurate courtesy and overdue notices and maintain staff and student procedures.
• Support collection organization, troubleshoot equipment, report circulation system issues, and assist with special projects.
