Job summary

The Chicago Lighthouse is seeking an Interim Facilities Director to lead Building & Grounds, Security, Drivers and front desk staff at our 1850 campus in Chicago, IL. The role ensures a safe, accessible, and well‑maintained environment for all visitors and staff.

You will develop maintenance schedules, manage budgets, oversee repairs, supervise staff, and coordinate with vendors. 5+ years supervisory maintenance experience is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred and a valid driver’s

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• At least 5 years of maintenance experience.
• Previous supervisory/leadership experience.
• Excellent organizational and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements and safety best practices.
• Ability to train others and supervise multiple teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Building & Grounds staff and contractors.
• Develop and oversee maintenance schedules and preventive work.
• Keep records of inspections and maintenance activities.
• Identify major repairs and report for budgeting.
• Recruit and evaluate Building & Grounds staff; guide promotions and changes.
• Monitor inventory and re-order supplies.
• Ensure exterior safety and accessibility for visually impaired individuals.
• Drive local travel 5-10% as needed.
• Ensure safe operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems.
