Vancouver Public Schools (VPS) seeks a Special Program Paraeducator 1 for an intensive academic classroom. This one-on-one position is 6 hours per day, 9 months per year and non-exempt under FLSA.

The role supports a student with significant needs under supervision of a certificated staff member. Responsibilities include implementing educational programs, assisting with life skills, behavior management, and reporting observations.

Qualifications

• Documentation verifying a high school diploma or GED
• Official transcripts or ETS ParaPro results required
• One year of related experience preferred
• Experience as part of an educational team preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Problem solving, analytical and conflict resolution abilities
• Experience with children with disabilities preferred

Responsabilités

• Assist teacher in implementing goals and IEPs
• Provide instructional assistance and manage student behavior
• De-escalate crises and follow behavior plans
• Prepare teaching materials and maintain records
• Assist with bus loading/unloading as needed
• Observe and report student progress and observations
• Maintain confidentiality
