Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools in Washington state seeks a Special Program Paraeducator 2 for the Integrated Communication & Sensory Program. This one-on-one position supports a student throughout a 6.5-hour day, nine months per year, assisting with academic and therapeutic activities under supervision.

The role requires teamwork, experience with diverse learners, and ability to implement behavior plans; weekend trainings and CPI de-escalation are required.

Qualifications

• Documentation verifying a high school diploma or GED.
• Official transcripts verifying an Associate’s degree or 72 quarter / 48 semester credits; or ParaPro score 461+.
• One year of related experience with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
• Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Experience with children with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in implementing and evaluating goals and IEPs.
• Monitor and collect data as directed; support academic and therapeutic activities.
• Provide instructional assistance and behavioral support as needed.
• Assist with preparing materials and maintaining records.
• Observe student behavior and intervene to ensure safety and learning.
• Attend training meetings, participate in team discussions, and support smooth program operation.
