ISEP One-on-One Paraeducator – Social-Emotional Support

Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools seeks a Special Program Paraeducator 2 for the Integrated Social Emotional Program (ISEP). This is a one-on-one position with 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year. The role is non-exempt under FLSA.

The paraeducator will support students with disabilities under the supervision of licensed staff, participate in team meetings, and implement instructional and behavioral plans while maintaining data and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with one of: associate’s degree or 72 quarter/48 semester credits or ETS ParaPro score 461+.
• Official transcripts or ParaPro results must be provided with application.
• One year of related experience in an educational setting preferred.
• Experience in educational teams and assisting teachers is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills are essential.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities and manage classroom behavior.

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated staff in implementing and evaluating IEP goals.
• Support students one-on-one or in small groups as directed by teacher.
• De-escalate emotional/behavioral crises and apply behavior management plans.
• Prepare teaching materials and maintain data collection records.
• Assist with attendance, data entry, and classroom routines.
• Maintain confidentiality and collaborate with the educational team.
• Support students with diverse needs in daily activities and transitions.
