Job description

Position Title: Instructor - Biology (FT 10-month)
Employment Type: Regular Full-Time

Salary Grade: Per Contract
Remote Work Option: Fully In-Person (may be subject to change)
Additional Information:

Work Hours:

Standard college hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Additional hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required to meet departmental needs.

General Summary:

Criteria in the collective bargaining agreement determine the position rank of teaching faculty. The salary range based on the established rank is between $46,781 - $52,940 for 10-month teaching positions. Ranking is determined by educational level and specific relevant experience.

Requirements
Education:
  • Master's or doctorate in biology, 30 graduate biology credits, professional medical doctorate (e.g., MD, DDS, DO, DVM), or a master's degree in a recognized biological or medical sub-field.
Knowledge Of:
  • Educational pedagogy

Duties (Primary Responsibilities):
  • Teach courses and develop curriculum.
  • Create and deliver learning experiences that support students in achieving the learning outcomes outlined in the Master Course Syllabus.
  • Employ teaching methods to design and maintain an engaging and effective learning environment.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to promote growth and academic success.
  • Cultivate a classroom environment that reflects the college's mission, values, and goals.
  • Participate in program and discipline activities related to curriculum development and implementation.
  • Contribute to program reviews and strategic planning by offering recommendations on curriculum, staffing, facilities, and equipment to support continuous improvement and future growth.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to deepen expertise in the discipline, enhance instructional strategies, and stay informed about emerging trends in education.
  • Effectively integrate relevant educational technology tools into teaching.
  • Participate in department, division, campus, and college meetings and committees, supporting institutional goals and initiatives.
  • Maintain weekly office hours as required by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Perform other related duties as outlined in the CBA.
