Job summary

Navy Federal Credit Union seeks an instructional designer to plan and manage learning projects across the organization. You will develop courses, sequence content, and create curricula to meet learner outcomes while collaborating with teams to implement training strategies and refresh materials throughout their lifecycle.

The role requires designing instructional content for various formats, evaluating program effectiveness, and influencing stakeholders to achieve performance goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience researching/writing course content and developing courses and related materials.
  • Advanced knowledge of instructional theories and educational psychology.

  • Strong skills in database and presentation software.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to translate processes into easily understood terms.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external contacts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience building strategic and execution-focused plans.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and assist trainers on course evaluation results
  • Collaborate with others to plan and design courses and curricula; ensure accuracy of content and test multimedia elements
  • Conduct needs assessment on request from business unit management to provide customized training or individual guidance to improve and develop performance
  • Create and edit new LMS learning activities; set up required training assignments in LMS; create custom LMS reports
  • Create dynamic instructional materials using current technologies including references and support tools
  • Develop and test course content, training games, graphic designs and other technology driven products
  • Develop classroom, online and/or independent learning content that transfers knowledge effectively
  • Develop instructional strategies and courses for a business unit and/or cross‑company products and skills
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of courses, learning products and delivery methods to ensure learning objectives are achieved
  • Involved in instructional design project teams with multiple deliverables and significant risk
  • Select effective instructional approaches blending instructor-led and/or self-directed techniques
  • Select or establish a design and development model; analyze learning needs to set objectives
  • Train internal team members on effective use of materials including ILT and VILT
  • Validate and integrate feedback, assessments and evaluations into content
  • Conduct presentations for executive leadership
  • Perform other duties as assigned
