Job summary

The State of South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced Supervisory Food Service Manager to oversee inmate food service operations in Columbia. You will supervise staff, schedule, ensure safety, and maintain compliance with health and security requirements.

Requirements include related food service experience and ServSafe manager certification (or within six months). A four-week basic training period is required upon hire, with opportunities for advancement within the

Qualifications

• Related food service experience.
• Experience in quantity and quality cooking required.
• Must be certified as a ServSafe manager or must attain certification within six months of employment.
• Must complete basic supervisory training within eighteen (18) months of employment.
• Must successfully complete four weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates inmate food service employees.
• Trains and instructs all employees in all phases of their duties.
• Supervises all personnel in the performance of their daily duties.
• Acts as officer in maintaining internal security of cafeteria.
• Works with inmate representative committee to resolve problems and complaints.
• Responsible for the accurate preparation of all food orders on a weekly basis.
• Prepares cook's work sheet in accordance with SCDC master menu and maintains a 5-year record.
• Meets with health, fire & OSHA inspections.
• Ensures maintenance/repair work on cafeteria equipment is performed.
