Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a Food Service Supervisor for its inmate facilities. The role oversees hiring, training, and performance of cafeteria staff, ensures safety and sanitation, and coordinates with inmate committees to resolve issues.

The position requires ServSafe certification (or must obtain within six months), SCDC basic training on hire, and completion of supervisory coursework within 18 months. Competitive state benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Related food service experience.
• Experience in quantity and quality cooking.
• Must be ServSafe certified or obtain certification within six months of employment.
• Must complete SCDC basic training upon hire.
• Must complete basic supervisory course within eighteen months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates all inmate food service employees.
• Trains and instructs all employees (cooks, bakers, kitchen and dining staff).
• Supervises all personnel in daily duties.
• Maintains internal security of cafeteria as officer.
• Works with inmate representative committee to resolve problems and complaints.
• Prepares accurate weekly food orders and deliveries.
• Prepares cook's worksheet per SCDC master menu and keeps records for 5 years.
• Meets health, fire and OSHA inspections.
• Ensures maintenance/repair of cafeteria equipment.
• Must attain ServSafe manager certification within six months.
