Job summary

The State of South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a supervisory food service manager to oversee inmate food service operations. You will supervise cooks, bakers, and dining staff, ensure accuracy of weekly food orders, and maintain health and safety standards.

You will coordinate training, enforce policies, and work with inmate committees to resolve issues while maintaining cafeteria security and compliance with external inspections.

Qualifications

• Related food service experience.
• Experience in quantity and quality cooking required.
• Must be ServSafe manager certified or attain certification within six months of employment.
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy or complete SCDC basic training upon hire.
• Must complete basic supervisory course within eighteen (18) months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates inmate food service employees.
• Trains and instructs all employees (cooks, bakers, kitchen and dining staff) in all duties.
• Supervises all personnel in daily duties.
• Acts as officer in maintaining internal security of cafeteria.
• Works with inmate representative committee to resolve problems and complaints.
• Responsible for accurate preparation of all food orders on a weekly basis and accurate deliveries.
• Prepares cook's worksheet per SCDC master menu and maintains records for 5 years.
• Meets with health, fire and OSHA inspections.
• Ensures maintenance/repair of cafeteria equipment.
• Requires ServSafe manager certification within six months.
