Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a supervisor for inmate food service operations within the Department of Corrections. You will oversee interviews, hiring, training and evaluation of staff, while maintaining cafeteria security and adherence to health and safety standards.

You will coordinate with inmate representatives, ensure weekly food orders are accurate, and maintain records per the SCDC Master Menu.

Qualifications

• Related food service experience.
• Must be ServSafe Manager or attain certification within six months.
• Must be certified by SCDC Training Academy or complete SCDC basic training upon hire.
• Must complete basic supervisory course within eighteen months.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates inmate food service employees.
• Trains and instructs all employees in duties.
• Supervises all personnel in daily duties.
• Maintains internal security of cafeteria.
• Works with inmate committee to resolve problems and complaints.
• Ensures accurate preparation of weekly food orders and deliveries.
• Prepares cook's worksheet per SCDC Master Menu and maintains 5-year records.
• Meets health, fire and OSHA inspections.
• Ensures maintenance/repair of cafeteria equipment.
• Completes SCDC Basic Training after hire.
