Job description

A Principal Chemistry Sales Development Representative (SDR) identifies, validates, qualifies, and closes new Waters consumables opportunities within their territory for the field Chemistry Account Managers to pursue. The Principal Chemistry SDR will use phone, voicemail, email, and social media to reach contacts and develop relationships. The role also includes qualification of market demand generation from campaigns and events. The Waters chemistry consumable line includes HPLC, UPLC, LC / MS, and SFC columns, sample prep products, standards, vials, and other consumables. These products are used in markets such as life science, pharmaceutical, food, environmental, and chemical materials.

The Principal Chemistry SDR is a subject matter expert on chromatography consumable products and these markets. They will work on projects with marketing and business segments requiring advanced problem-solving skills. The role demands adaptability to a dynamic environment, quick learning for product launches, and proficiency with sales tools like Salesforce, Power BI, and Excel. They will collaborate with different teams to develop sales methodologies addressing industry-wide needs, considering the impacts on their territory.

As a part of Waters Sales, the Principal Chemistry SDR sells products used globally for scientific analyses. Developing a deep understanding of customer needs and crafting impactful solutions is central to this role.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, capable of developing new business with minimal guidance, working closely with account managers, specialists, and marketing colleagues to build and advance the sales funnel. The territory includes parts of the US and/or Canada.

Responsibilities

  1. Prospecting new customers across the region
  2. Following up on market demand from campaigns and events
  3. Upselling and cross-selling to existing customers
  4. Identifying customer business problems and translating them into solutions, promoting Waters Chemistry products
  5. Collaborating with other Waters teams (Instrument Sales, Chemistry Sales, Inside Sales, Customer Service, Informatics)
  6. Using CRM daily for record keeping, compliance, and forecasting
  7. Working with local teams to promote new products to new and existing accounts
  8. Utilizing tools like LinkedIn for prospecting and contacting KOLs
  9. Engaging with sales and marketing authority teams
  10. Providing feedback to marketing for business development programs
  11. Contributing to team success by working closely with the field sales team
  12. Educating customers to improve order efficiency via Waters ecommerce platform
  13. Training on policies, programs, and tools
  14. Responding to leads from new and current customers

Qualifications

  1. BS / BA in chemistry or related field
  2. 4+ years of laboratory or sales experience (preferred)
  3. Self-motivated, results-oriented, organized, and communicative
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office
  5. Knowledge of (U)HPLC and LC / MS techniques is highly desirable
  6. Excellent communication skills
  7. Positive attitude and adaptability
  8. Experience with sales tools like Salesforce, Power BI, Excel
  9. Understanding of industry challenges and territory impacts

The salary range is $68,000-$90,500 annually, based on experience and location. #LI-Remote
