Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech (CST) for Inpatient Surgery at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

This PRN, on-call role operates within a collective bargaining unit and requires aseptic scrubbing, patient preparation, and instrument handling under supervision of the surgeon and nurse manager. Essential duties include assisting in various surgical procedures, maintaining sterility, and coordinating with the circulating nurse.

Qualifications

• Surgical Technology degree/credential required or equivalent experience.
• CPR – American Heart Association is required.
• Certification preferred and must be attained within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Scrub on operative procedures using aseptic technique.
• Prepare and shave as ordered; insert Foley catheters as needed.
• Set up sterile table, pass instruments, and assist surgeon during procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and assist in room cleanup after procedures.
• Ensure equipment and supplies are available and functioning for procedures.
