Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk is seeking a Registered Nurse for Inpatient Psychiatry on a part-time day shift from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm with alternate weekends. The RN will deliver professional nursing care per physician plans to support patients and their families, assess needs, plan and document care, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.

The role includes coordinating discharge planning, providing patient education, and ensuring safe, quality care on the inpatient psychiatry unit.

Qualifications

• Two year training from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current New York State RN license.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications per department requirements.
• Ability to work with diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient data with involvement of patient, family and other health care providers.
• Perform initial assessment and document findings.
• Provide nursing care per physician treatment plans and adapt as needed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary health care team to meet patient needs.
• Participate in discharge planning and teaching for patients and families.
• Maintain patient safety and document responses to interventions.
• Assist in orientation and supervision of new staff.
