Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Psychiatry unit (1East) in inpatient care. This full-time role runs from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

with alternating weekends, providing compassionate, evidence-based nursing care under physician plans to support patients and families. Responsibilities include assessment, care planning, coordination, and discharge planning while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to meet holistic patient needs and ensure safety.

Qualifications

• Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS may be required in certain units.
• Strong communication and patient-care skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient health data with patient/family involvement.
• Performs initial assessments per patient presentation.
• Documents the nursing plan of care and updates.
• Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and age-appropriate care.
• Performs ongoing assessments and discharge planning integration.
• Communicates plan of care to patient, family, and team.
• Delivers education to patient and family using assessment results.
• Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team to meet patient needs.
