Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum: high school education or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• 6 months as PCT I or 800 hours inpatient/outpatient direct patient care.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Medical terminology knowledge.
• Computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Must remain calm under pressure in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN about patient observations and changes.
• Maintain constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assist in creating a safe environment and de-escalate situations; follow policy on restraints when needed.
• Assist with activities of daily living: hygiene, ambulation, meals.
• Assist in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients using proper safety techniques.
• Perform patient safety checks and monitor fall prevention strategies.
• Take and record vital signs and measure height/weight.
• Perform EKGs, POC tests, bladder scanning; collect and label specimens for lab transport.
