Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Patient Care Technician I for inpatient float pool coverage on day shift. The 32-hour schedule is on site and requires direct patient care under licensed clinicians, with duties across vitals, hygiene, and safety.

You will assist with daily living activities, perform EKGs and POC tests where needed, and collaborate with the nursing team to ensure compassionate, culturally appropriate care while maintaining documentation and equipment readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology.
• Ability to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Communicate observations to the RN promptly.
• Provide constant observation of high-risk patients.
• Assist with daily living activities and mobility.
• Assist with safety and restraints as needed per policy.
• Take and record vital signs and basic measurements.
• Assist with EKGs, POC tests, bladder scanning and specimen collection.
