Luminis Health, Inc. in Georgia seeks an Inpatient Medical Coder responsible for coding hospital inpatient accounts under supervision to ensure accurate reimbursement, research, statistics, and compliance with ICD-10-CM/PCS coding systems.

The role requires formal ICD-10-CM and CPT training with a minimum one year inpatient or two years acute care outpatient experience; collaboration with clinicians/CDIS is essential to resolve documentation gaps and uphold DRG accuracy and compliance with HIPAA.

Formación

• High School graduate; formal ICD-10-CM and CPT training required
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred

Responsabilidades

• Analyzes inpatient cases, assigns ICD-10 diagnostic and PCS codes for reimbursement and compliance.
• Queries providers and communicates with CDIS on clinical questions.
• Monitors work queues to code and abstract records within established timeframes.
• Maintains high accuracy to prevent denials and billing errors; receives feedback on metrics.
• Reviews medical records to extract information for code assignments.
• Communicates with hospital departments regarding billing and registration issues.
• Complies with AHIMA standards and HIPAA regulations.
• Uses coding references, software tools, and EHRs to assign codes.
• Participates in ongoing education and DRG mismatch meetings.
