Qualifications

• RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CIC required; 3–5 years hospital experience.
• Experience in medical coding (MS/APR DRG's, ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS).
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and diseases.
• Requires reasoning, independent judgment and strong interpersonal skills.
• 3M CRS software experience preferred; HIPAA and ethics knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient diagnoses and procedures per ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS conventions.
• Adhere to AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding and Coding Compliance guidelines.
• Reference ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS resources; attach modifiers appropriately.
• Utilize 3M Coding references and software daily.
• Maintain 95% chart accuracy and support staff with denials/reimbursement issues.
• Mentor junior staff; perform peer reviews; assist CDS/medical staff as needed.
