Qualifications

• RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CIC required.
• Three to five years hospital coding experience.
• Experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• HIPAA compliance knowledge.
• Proficient with 3M Coding references.
• Excellent communication and organization.
• Ability to train and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Accurately codes inpatient diagnoses and procedures per ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS.
• Adhere to AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding and Coding Compliance.
• Reference ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS Level II code books as needed.
• Utilize 3M Coding references daily and 3M Coding Software.
• Maintain 95% chart coding accuracy.
• Collaborate with department staff and physicians for clarification.
• Participate in workshops and continuing education.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Mentor junior staff and perform peer reviews.
