Job summary

North Carolina School of Science , Math is seeking a full-time, ten-month Instructor of Mathematics for the NCSSM-Durham campus. The role involves designing courses, delivering engaging instruction, and supporting students through office hours, assessments, and feedback.

The position reports to the Mathematics Department Chair and requires a Master’s degree with prior math teaching experience at the Precalculus level or higher.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field and previous teaching experience in mathematics at the Precalculus level or above is required.
• Experience teaching Calculus or Data Science courses is desirable.
• Commitment to designing new curriculum and using educational technology.

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop an instructional program that helps students assimilate specific course content and skills.
• Develop and communicate clear course objectives and goals to students.
• Participate in discipline and multi-section course meetings and create syllabi.
• Take attendance and enforce the attendance policy; grade and provide feedback with timely grade reports.
• Communicate with parents and support teams when necessary; hold office hours and tutorial sessions.
• Engage in professional duties including service, advising, and committee work.
