Job summary

Amcor in Massachusetts is seeking a Process Engineer to lead all aspects of injection stretch blow mold sampling, qualification services, and validation for new and rebuilt molds. You will collaborate with plant technical teams to support startups and drive process optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to understand, influence, drive and negotiate with internal and external customers.
• Strong management, communication and people skills required to influence and manage multiple resources, most of which do not report to the process engineer.
• Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Minimum of 5 years’ processing experience in the plastics packaging industry desired.
• Experience with SPC is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aspects of mold samplings & qualification services on new, replacement or rebuilt tools.
• Optimize the molding process to achieve dimensional limits at the designed cycle time or less.
• Create and maintain standardized Master Process Sheets for defined injection or blow molding process.
• Attend new project meetings, design reviews and tool specification meetings as required.
• Trains plant personnel in technical areas, including machine processing and tool design changes.
• Provide Manufacturing Support to solve production issues related to machine, process, tooling/design.
• Support plants with equipment, process, capability studies and tooling qualifications/validations.
• Perform and establish tooling and equipment qualification at vendor locations.
• Establish data resource information relative to packaging, machinery and processes.
• Facilitate and communicate best practices across facilities.
• Design Experiments (DOE) and R&D process capability studies to ensure standards and specs.
• Create and maintain Master Process of Adjustments (POA’s).
• Develop organizational technical capabilities with platform training and mentoring.
• Maintain a current database of our injection or blow mold tooling and process conditions.
