Job summary

MUSC Health is seeking a Financial Counselor for infusion services to serve as the primary resource for patient financial information and coverage verification. The role involves estimating infusion costs, confirming benefits, and communicating patient financial responsibilities prior to services.

The position requires independent work, coordination with providers, pharmacy staff, payers, and assistance programs. Healthcare experience and Epic proficiency are highly valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and five years of medically related customer service, insurance, and/or collections experience, OR Bachelor's degree and one year of customer service, insurance verification, and/or prior authorization experience in infusion/oncology.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and computer proficiency including typing, Excel, and Word. Epic experience preferred.
• Experience obtaining prior authorization for infusion or injectable drugs and familiarity with copay assistance programs.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits specific to infusion therapy, including benefit determination and out-of-pocket costs.
• Research payer policies and communicate coverage barriers to providers and nursing teams.
• Coordinate with provider and pharmacy teams for letters of medical necessity and reviews.
• Review patient schedules to establish financial responsibility and discuss treatment costs.
