Job summary

The Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology is seeking a Patient Financial Advocate and Prior Authorization Coordinator to manage infusion referrals, assist patients with insurance paperwork, and conduct comprehensive benefits investigations. You will collaborate with PFS, PA, and Infusion teams to secure coverage and ensure timely authorization before procedures.

Responsibilities include coordinating financial assistance programs, monitoring co-pays, and maintaining accurate electronic start forms

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED; Bachelor's degree in health-related field highly desired.
• At least two years of previous medical office experience, preferably in revenue cycle or financial counseling.
• Previous infusion services experience is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of health insurance and its impact on billing; understanding of prior authorization processes.

Responsibilities

• Receive and review infusion referrals to ensure completeness and understanding of patient needs.
• Contact patients to assist with insurance paperwork and infusion start-up forms.
• Perform benefits investigations to determine coverage, financial responsibility, and discuss costs before scheduling.
• Collaborate with PFS, PA, and Infusion teams to ensure coverage and authorization before appointments.
• Confirm co-pay assistance, payer or manufacturer requirements, and MCN account status prior to infusion.
• Apply for and manage grants, patient assistance programs, co-pay programs, and free drug programs.
• Monitor insurance accumulations and transition patients to billable status when thresholds are met.
• Ensure start forms are current and submitted electronically when possible.
• Serve as a resource for insurance, authorization, and patient financial issues.
