Job summary

BigCommerce seeks a Senior Manager, Infrastructure Engineering to lead a team responsible for the platforms and systems powering our global engineering efforts. You will balance hands‑on technical leadership with people management, driving cloud-native, containerized infrastructure and high availability.

You will partner with product, security, and cross-functional teams to reduce friction, improve reliability, and grow a high‑performing, globally distributed engineering organization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of infrastructure engineering experience with 5+ years in software engineering and 4+ years of people management.
• Proven expertise in cloud-native architectures, containerization, and IaC practices.
• Strong UNIX/Linux fundamentals and experience with distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead distributed infra and software engineering teams, including hiring, coaching and performance reviews.
• Own platform and infrastructure roadmap and translate strategy into quarterly priorities.
• Drive cloud-native shift, including Kubernetes adoption and infrastructure-as-code.
• Ensure global-scale reliability, performance, and security across data, messaging, and services.
• Improve developer productivity by reducing friction across build, test, deploy, and observability.
• Collaborate with security and platform architecture to balance reliability with velocity.
