Job summary

Commerce, based in Austin, is seeking a Senior Manager of Infrastructure Engineering to lead a distributed team responsible for platforms and systems powering our global engineering organization. You’ll balance hands-on technical leadership with people management, driving cloud-native and containerized infrastructure at scale.

You will partner with product, security, and architecture to reduce friction, improve reliability, and align the roadmap with business growth, while mentoring engineers

Qualifications

• 8+ years in infrastructure engineering.
• 5+ years in software engineering including 4+ years managing engineers.
• Expertise in cloud-native platforms, Kubernetes, and IaC.
• Unix/Linux fundamentals.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails, PHP, Python, Go, Java, or similar languages.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee distributed infrastructure and software engineering teams, including hiring and mentoring.
• Translate infrastructure strategy into quarterly priorities.
• Lead shift toward cloud-native, containerized, and orchestrated environments (Kubernetes, IaC).
• Ensure core infrastructure, data, and messaging support global scale and security.
• Improve developer productivity by reducing friction across build, test, deploy, and observability.
• Collaborate with security and platform peers to balance reliability, velocity, and security.
• Mentor engineers and grow a sustainable talent pipeline.
