Job summary

Commerce is seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, automate, and operate infrastructure across on-prem data centers and cloud environments. The role requires hands-on operations experience and deep automation expertise, with ownership of scalable systems that support global operations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in infrastructure or systems engineering, with production ownership.
• Experience managing physical hardware hosted at colocations or data centers.
• Strong Linux systems administration at scale (Red Hat/Debian).
• Hands-on networking experience (Cisco, DNS, load balancing).
• Experience automating infra with IaC tools (Terraform, Puppet, Ansible).
• Proficiency in Python or similar for tooling/automation.
• Production experience with GCP (Compute Engine, networking, storage, IAM).
• Proven ability to lead infra projects and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate large-scale, multi-data-center infrastructure for global operations.
• Lead automation of deployment and config management, migrating to modern IaC.
• Design and maintain traffic management, load balancing, and DNS at scale.
• Build and operate monitoring/observability across on-prem and cloud.
• Develop tooling for distributed, auditable infra administration.
• Document infrastructure processes, policies, and procedures.
