Job summary

Commerce, parent of BigCommerce, Feedonomics and Makeswift, seeks a Senior Manager, Infrastructure Engineering to lead distributed teams building scalable platforms. You will drive cloud-native adoption, container orchestration, and IaC to support global growth and reliability.

You will balance hands-on technical leadership with people management, coaching engineers, and collaborating with security and architecture to maintain velocity and security across regions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional infrastructure engineering experience and 5+ years of professional software engineering experience including 4+ years directly managing engineers.
• Proven expertise in cloud-native and platform architecture, including containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code.
• Hands-on experience optimizing global performance and security using modern edge platforms (e.g., Cloudflare).
• Strong UNIX/Linux fundamentals and a broad software development background in multiple languages.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own execution of the platform and infrastructure roadmap, translating strategy into quarterly priorities.
• Lead shift toward cloud-native, containerized, and orchestrated environments and IaC.
• Ensure infrastructure and data layers meet scale, performance, and availability targets.
• Drive developer productivity by reducing friction across build, test, deploy, and observability.
• Collaborate with security and architecture teams to balance reliability with velocity.
• Manage a team of infrastructure engineers and align on technical roadmaps.
• Communicate across geographies to ensure alignment with cross-functional partners.
• Coach and grow engineers and leads; partner with Talent Acquisition for top talent.
• Foster a high-trust culture that encourages experimentation and continuous improvement.
• Periodically contribute to design reviews and hands-on implementation when needed.
