Job summary

The Falkirk Mining Company in Underwood, IA, is seeking an IT Intern (Trainee) to gain hands-on experience while pursuing an Information Systems degree. This three to eight month program targets students who have started their degree and intend to complete it after the internship.

Duties include designing and developing applications, network/server administration, workstation deployment, and supporting field technologies.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in accredited Information Systems or related program and in good academic standing.
• Has completed a portion of college in related field and intends to finish the degree.
• Valid driver's license and ability to wear PPE as required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop applications to advance business processes.
• Network and server administration tasks.
• Workstation configuration and deployment.
• Help assist and support all field technologies (drones, high precision GPS, real-time monitoring, radios, etc.).
• Perform maintenance on all computer equipment and related peripherals.
• Responsible for local inventory maintenance and software license management.
• MSHA law/safety/environmental - perform duties in line with safety regs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Employee Type: Intern (Trainee)This program is designed for students currently pursuing a two- or four-year degree, who have completed a portion of their curriculum, and will be completing their program after the internship experience. It is not designed for graduates. Falkirk views this position as an opportunity to expose an Information Technology (or related) student to work experience relating to the support and advancement of technology infrastructure and related environments. The successful candidate will work with our innovative Information Systems team in pursuit of their goal of achieving exceptional support and continued cost-effective development of industry leading systems. This candidate will be energetic, personable, and able to work efficiently in a group setting or independently as directed.

3-month position (May 2027 through August 2027)

8-month position (May 2027 through December 2027)

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Completed a portion of college in the associated field of study and intents on completing the degree.

Starting Salary: $25.88 - $29.11 (Hourly)

NOTE: This position requires working rotating shifts. The role involves approximately 80% indoor work and 20% outdoor work. Must also successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and the applicable Job Function Test (JFT).
