Job summary

UniFirst seeks a reliable Maintenance Tech I to join our team. You will handle repairs, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, systems, and components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This role offers on-the-job training with a Monday–Friday schedule and occasional overtime. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and some technical experience, plus ability to read blueprints and lift up to 80 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment test.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics is required.
• Ability to read maintenance literature in English is required.
• Able to lift up to 80 lbs and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand/power tools and measurement devices.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals and specs.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems using precision instruments.
• Test boiler chemicals and wastewater pre-treatment, log results and adjust as required.
• Perform boiler safety checks and repairs.
• Record utility meter readings and take corrective actions.
• Perform location/system safety checks and address concerns.
• Inspect shafts, bearings, gears and lubricate parts.
• Use CMMS and perform other duties as assigned.
