Job summary

BlueScope Middletown is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support the Middletown plant’s maintenance team. The role focuses on maintaining and repairing production equipment, implementing preventive maintenance, and leading cost-reduction and reliability efforts.

The candidate will inspect machinery, troubleshoot components, and coordinate with the Maintenance Manager on schedules and improvements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications preferred.
• 3+ years industrial maintenance experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret manuals.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment, rigging, and crane principles.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and maintain safety.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair mechanical components (motors, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics).
• Plan and maintain preventative maintenance programs.
• Perform routine, emergency, and preventive maintenance.
• Install or align new equipment; ensure proper layout and operation.
• Communicate repair steps, parts, and timelines with plant staff.
