Job summary

Ryan Companies is hiring an Estimator II for their National Industrial team. This role focuses on creating and analyzing detailed cost information during preconstruction for facilities such as high-tech manufacturing plants and biotech sites.

You will develop conceptual and detailed estimates, perform quantity take-offs, solicit subcontractor pricing, and mentor junior staff while supporting design-build and best-value processes. A four-year degree and 6+ years' experience are required.

Qualifications

• A four-year engineering, architecture, or management degree is required, or relevant field experience.
• Six or more years of commercial construction experience.
• Ability to read and understand project plans.
• Proficiency with CSI and Uniformat II work breakdown structures.
• Ability to perform thoughtful quantity take-offs and summarize data clearly.
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel; experience with OST, Bluebeam, VICO, Navisworks, and Revit is a plus.
• Familiarity with design-build, CM at Risk, and best-value processes.
• Ability to teach skills and knowledge to others.
• Knowledge of construction means/methods, building types, and procurement methods.
• Able to listen, prioritize, and value others' opinions.

Responsibilities

• Work with preconstruction managers to develop accurate conceptual and detailed estimates.
• Perform quantity take-offs of all construction systems.
• Solicit subcontractor pricing for budgeting and bidding events.
• Scope, select, and recommend subcontractors based on best value.
• Create and monitor project estimate updates with scope changes.
• Champion data integrity through archiving estimates and tracking historic costs.
• Support preconstruction teams with cost validation, value design, and procurement lead times.
• Review and provide feedback on estimates created by others.
• Mentor new estimators and project teams.
• Assist clients with conceptual budgets and cost modeling using Uniformat II.
