Job summary

Ryan Companies US, Inc. is hiring an Estimator II for our National Industrial team. You will lead estimates through preconstruction, analyzing detailed cost information to support high-tech manufacturing plant projects with cleanrooms and R&D labs.

You will work with managers and other estimators to develop accurate estimates, perform quantity take-offs, and solicit subcontractor pricing. Mentoring and cost validation will be part of your role.

Qualifications

• 4 year engineering, architectural or management degree required.
• 6+ years commercial construction experience.
• Knowledge of construction means and methods and able to read and understand project plans.
• Proficiency with CSI and Uniformat II work breakdown structures.
• Be able to perform thoughtful and accurate quantity take offs, and summarize data in a meaningful way.
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel. Working knowledge of OST, Bluebeam, VICO, Navisworks, and Revit a plus.
• Knowledge of design-build, CM at Risk, and best-value processes.
• Able to teach skills and knowledge to others.
• Knowledge of construction means and methods, building types, and procurement methods.
• Able to listen, prioritize, and value the opinions of others.

Responsibilities

• Develop accurate conceptual and detailed estimates with preconstruction team.
• Perform quantity take-offs of construction systems.
• Solicit subcontractor pricing for budgeting and bidding events.
• Scope, select and recommend subcontractors based on best value.
• Create and monitor project estimate updates with scope changes.
• Champion data integrity through archiving estimates and costs.
• Support preconstruction with cost validation, value design, schedule input, procurement lead times.
• Review and provide feedback on estimates prepared by others.
• Assist and mentor new estimators and project managers.
• Assist clients with conceptual budgets and cost modeling using Uniformat II.
