Job summary

Ryan Companies is seeking an Estimator II in Chicago to lead estimating efforts during preconstruction. You will create detailed estimates, analyze cost data, and guide subcontractor pricing and selections to deliver value on commercial projects.

Responsibilities include mentoring junior staff, validating costs, and assisting with project schedules and procurement lead times. A strong background in design-bid-build and cost modeling is essential.

Qualifications

• 4 year engineering, architectural or management degree required, or experience in relevant field.
• 6+ years commercial construction experience.
• Knowledge of construction means and methods; ability to read and understand project plans.
• Proficiency with CSI and Uniformat II work breakdown structures.
• Able to perform thoughtful quantity take-offs and summarize data clearly.
• Microsoft Excel proficiency; working knowledge of OST, Bluebeam, VICO, Navisworks, and Revit a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop accurate conceptual and detailed estimates with preconstruction team.
• Perform quantity take-offs of all construction systems.
• Solicit subcontractor pricing for budgeting and bidding events.
• Scope, select and recommend subcontractors based on value and project requirements.
• Create and monitor project estimate updates as scope evolves.
• Maintain data integrity and archive estimates and costs.
