Job summary
CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) is seeking an Automation Engineer in the United States to support advanced automation systems for high‑volume facilities. You’ll improve preventive maintenance, diagnose complex issues, and optimize conveyors, PLCs, vision systems, and SCADA platforms to boost uptime and safety.
You will collaborate with operations and maintenance teams, troubleshoot on-site and remotely, and lead improvements from concept through rollout.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred with 2-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination
- Experience in at least two engineering design cycles including specification, component selection and programming
- 2+ years of experience with PLC programming, robotics components and SCADA-based monitoring and control systems
- Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays
- Ability to troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems
Responsibilities
- Promote a safe working environment by complying with codes and safety directives
- Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems (PLC/PC)
- Serve as first-level escalation for on-site and remote troubleshooting
- Inspect systems to ensure operation within design capabilities
- Oversee development, scheduling, and inspection of work performed by contractors
- Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to implementation
- Monitor industrial networks (Ethernet, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS-I) and motor control systems
- Communicate updates and timelines to leadership and maintenance teams
- Perform failures analysis to propose improvements and retraining
