Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking an Automation Engineer to support advanced automation systems for a major online retailer.

You will work with PLCs, SCADA, conveyors, and vision systems to optimize performance, uptime, and safety across mission-critical facilities. The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, collaboration with operations and maintenance teams, and driving continuous improvement from concept to implementation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferred with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in at least two engineering design cycles including specification, component selection, and programming.
• 2+ years PLC programming, robotics components, and SCADA-based monitoring/control.
• Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment and compliance with codes and regulations.
• Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems.
• Serve as first level escalation for on-site and remote troubleshooting.
• Inspect systems to ensure operation meets design and client requirements.
• Oversee development scope, work requests, scheduling, and contractor inspections.
• Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to implementation.
• Monitor industrial networks and motor control systems.
• Communicate with leadership, operations, and maintenance on timelines and impacts.
• Analyze failures and recommend improvements or retraining.
• Perform controls assessments to maintain equipment reliability.
• Communicate technical issues clearly with site leadership and teams.
• Foster relationships with client and maintenance teams.
