Job summary

DLA Piper seeks an Associate to join our corporate practice. This position can be based out of any US office.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of experience advising domestic and international companies seeking to expand or relocate in the US; advising across industries with HQs, manufacturing, data centers, and large office projects; and negotiating discretionary economic development incentives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of experience advising domestic and international companies expanding or relocating in the US.
• Experience across industries with development of HQs, manufacturing, data centers, and large office projects.
• Ability to identify and negotiate discretionary economic development incentives.
• Strong academic background and ability to mentor junior associates.
• Excellent analytical, writing and verbal communication skills; attention to detail, good business judgment and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently across the firm.

Responsibilities

• Legal research to support case/transaction preparation and strategy.
• Draft well-written, error-free legal documents including briefs, motions, contracts, and correspondence.
• Assist/manage complex cases/transactions from inception to resolution including trials, negotiations, settlements and closings.
• Build and maintain internal and external client relationships with timely updates and professional responses.
• Collaborate with lawyers and professionals to develop innovative strategies.
• Attend and participate in high-level legal activities such as hearings and depositions.
• Ensure compliance with legal standards; stay updated on changes in law and precedents.
• Pursue ongoing professional development and contribute to firm citizenship initiatives.
