Job summary

Michaels in Wilmington, NC is seeking an Event Coordinator to plan and run engaging store events, including kids’ birthday parties and craft classes, delivering a fun, hands-on experience for guests.

You will help customers, manage checkout flow, assist with BOPIS/SFS, stock, and housekeeping while upholding safety standards; you’ll coordinate with store teams and communicate event details to ensure memorable experiences.

Qualifications

• Retail and/or customer service experience required.
• Must have experience working with children and children’s events.
• Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
• Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
• Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
• Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
• Communicate events with clients and store team members.
• Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
• Adjust plans and events based on client’s feedback and needs.
• Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
• Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
• Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
