Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active California Bar membership.
• Three to five years of relevant litigation experience with a strong foundation in employment law.
• Hands‑on experience with discovery, motion practice, case management, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, or trials.
• Traditional labor experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Practical business judgment and the ability to collaborate with internal clients, senior attorneys, and outside counsel.
• Initiative, professionalism, sound judgment, and integrity.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, and LexisNexis; experience with SharePoint, Salesforce, Legal Files, Paycom, or ADP is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Support and increasingly take ownership of pre‑litigation, administrative, and litigation matters.
• Manage and support employment litigation matters, administrative claims, internal investigations, regulatory inquiries, and related disputes.
• Help develop litigation strategies aligned with the company’s business priorities and risk‑management objectives.
• Draft motions, pleadings, correspondence, and discovery; assist with document collection, ESI, witness interviews, and deposition preparation.
• Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as experience and case needs permit.
• Evaluate claims and contribute to settlement strategy, negotiations, and resolution efforts.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to provide practical guidance on employment litigation risk, dispute resolution, and compliance matters.
• Coordinate with outside counsel on case strategy, discovery, deadlines, budgets, and results while helping retain meaningful litigation work in‑house.
• Support traditional labor matters, including grievance review and strategy, with guidance from experienced members of the Legal team.
• Monitor legal developments affecting the organization and recommend policy or process improvements that reduce risk.
• Assist with contract review, requests for proposals, compliance initiatives, and other Legal Department projects as needed.
