Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice in Omaha, NE is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to provide compassionate in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care. You will work independently in the field while supported by a collaborative medical leadership team and strong operational infrastructure.

This role offers flexibility, autonomy, and a purpose-driven practice focused on comfort, dignity, and respect for pets and families during life’s most meaningful moments.

Qualifications

• DVM from an accredited veterinary school.
• Active veterinary license in the state of practice.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Willingness to work some weekends.
• Experience in hospice or in-home care is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care in a compassionate, Fear Free–aligned manner.
• Support families through the end-of-life process with empathy and professionalism.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
• Collaborate with Heartstrings’ medical leadership and support teams.
• Participate in ongoing training and clinical development.
