Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to service pet families across Louisville, Middletown, Jeffersontown, and surrounding areas in Kentucky. Join a doctor-led, privately held practice that values professional autonomy and compassionate end-of-life care.

As an In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarian, you’ll provide in-home hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, and peaceful euthanasia with empathy, clinical judgment, and flexible

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), BVMS, or equivalent veterinary degree.
• Active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be provided.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to travel between in-home appointments.
• Ability to work independently as a mobile veterinarian.
• Demonstrated empathy and professionalism in pet hospice discussions.
• Availability for rotational weekend scheduling.
• Successful completion of background checks prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, and compassionate euthanasia services.
• Travel to scheduled appointments and operate in a mobile veterinary care environment.
• Perform physical exams, clinical assessments, medication administration, sedation, euthanasia, and related services.
• Educate families on quality-of-life decisions and end-of-life options with empathy.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each encounter.
• Communicate professionally with families, Heartstrings team, and referring veterinarians.
• Safely handle animals and assist with mobility during in-home visits.
• Maintain professionalism and sound medical judgment while working independently.
