Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to serve pet families throughout Boerne and nearby Texas communities. This role offers professional autonomy, meaningful family relationships, and the opportunity to practice medicine with intention in clients' homes.

Our team provides in-home hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, and compassionate euthanasia services, enabling families to navigate difficult moments in the comfort of home.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD/BVMS or equivalent from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license in the state(s) where services are provided.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to travel between appointments.
• Ability to work independently as a mobile veterinarian.
• Excellent communication with empathy during end-of-life conversations.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and assist with weights up to 100 pounds.
• Background and motor vehicle checks as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, and compassionate euthanasia within your service area.
• Travel independently to scheduled appointments in a mobile care setting.
• Perform physical examinations, medications, sedation, euthanasia, and other veterinary services.
• Educate families on quality-of-life decisions and end-of-life options.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each encounter.
• Communicate professionally with families, Heartstrings team, scheduling, and referring vets.
• Safely handle and assist with movement of animals during visits.
• Maintain professionalism and clinical independence in the field.
• Demonstrate Heartstrings' values in every interaction.
